Welcome to 9th Grade World Geography. This year we will journey across the globe to learn about the people and places of our vast, but interconnected, world. Be prepared to experience new sights, sounds and ideas as we rub shoulders with people on 4 continents.
During this year we will explore the world through the 5 themes of Geography: Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, and Region. We will learn how to read and use maps, how to analyze demographic data, and how to use qualitative techniques to generate Geographic knowledge. If that sounds intimidating, don't worry. I'll be with you every step of the way. By the end of the course, you will be a world-class explorer.
Every week I will post a reflection question right here on the blog. Every student will be asked to comment on the question in 150 words. It's a chance for you to reflect on our lessons and come to a deeper understanding of the discipline of Geography. In addition, I will post updates about our class progress, so parents can follow along. Enjoy!
